This guide walks you through registering for a Topco event, what to expect before and during the day, and how to get the most out of the networking features. If something's not covered here, check the common questions at the end, or reach out to the events team directly.
Getting started
Signing in
You don't need to create a new account or remember a new password. Sign in with whichever you already have:
- Microsoft
Tip
Whichever you choose the first time, use the same one for every future Topco event — it's what carries your identity across events, so your profile, connections, and registrations all stay linked to you.
Getting started
Registering for an event
-
Open the event's registration page
Usually linked from an invite, an email, or the event's page directly.
-
Choose your ticket type
Free or paid, depending on the event — if it's a paid ticket, you'll be taken to PayFast to complete payment securely.
-
Fill in your details
Name, email, mobile number, company, and a few optional fields (dietary requirements, role). Your email needs to be one you haven't already used to register for this specific event.
-
You're registered
You'll see your ticket and QR code immediately on screen, and it'll land in your inbox too.
Already registered?
If you try to register again with the same email for the same event, you'll get a message saying so instead of a duplicate ticket — that's expected. Look for your original confirmation email, or check your spam folder.
Getting started
Your ticket & QR code
Your QR code is your entry ticket — it's the same code in every email you get about this event (confirmation, reminders), so any one of them works. You don't need to print anything; showing it on your phone at the door is fine.
Before you arrive
Venue & getting there
The event page shows the venue name, full address, and an embedded map with a "Get directions" button that opens Google Maps for you. If the event has a specific hall or room, that's shown too. Larger venues also have a floor plan showing where sponsor booths are.
Before you arrive
Agenda, speakers & sponsors
All browsable from the event's public pages before you even sign in:
- Agenda — session times, rooms, and tracks (if the event has more than one).
- Speakers — who's presenting, their role, company, and a short bio.
- Sponsors — every sponsor and partner at the event, with their booth location if the venue has a floor plan.
Before you arrive
Emails you'll receive
| When | |
|---|---|
| Registration confirmation | Right after you register, with your QR code |
| Reminder(s) | A few days before the event (varies by event), with your QR code again |
| Connection request | When another delegate wants to connect with you (see Meeting other delegates) |
Reminder and connection-request emails can be switched off from your profile — see Your profile & notifications.
On the day
Checking in at the entrance
Show your QR code (from any of your emails, or on-screen in the app) to the registration team at the door — they'll scan it and you're in. No need to queue for a printed badge if the event doesn't have one; the QR code is your check-in.
Paid tickets
If you registered for a paid ticket, make sure your payment actually went through — an unconfirmed payment can't be checked in at the door. If you're not sure, check your confirmation email or contact the events team ahead of time.
On the day
Meeting other delegates
The Network tab (once you're signed in) is where the delegate directory and messaging live.
Browse other registered delegates and send a connection request.
You'll get an email and/or push notification when someone wants to connect — accept or decline from the app.
Once connected, message each other directly, right from the app.
Scan another delegate's badge QR code to instantly connect — no request/accept step, since scanning in person already means you've met. Tag them Hot/Warm/Cold for your own follow-up afterwards.
On the day
Talking to sponsors
From the Sponsors page, you can message any sponsor directly — useful if you want to ask something ahead of visiting their booth, or follow up afterwards. They'll reply from their own sponsor dashboard.
Your account
Your profile & notifications
On the Network tab, your own profile card lets you add a short bio and photo (visible to other delegates), plus two notification toggles:
- Email me reminders and connection requests — turn off if you'd rather not get these by email.
- Push notify me for this event — turn off to stop push notifications for this specific event (you can still enable/disable per event if you're registered for more than one).
Your registration confirmation email always sends regardless of these settings — it's your ticket, not a notification you can miss.
Your account
Common questions
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| I lost my QR code / deleted the email | Sign back in with the same account you registered with — your ticket and QR code are shown right on the event page again. |
| I registered with the wrong email | Contact the events team directly — they can correct it on their end. |
| It says I've already registered, but I haven't (that I remember) | You may have registered with a different sign-in method under the same email previously. Try signing in with Google/Microsoft/LinkedIn/email in turn, or contact the events team. |
| Can I use the same account for a different event? | Yes — sign in the same way and register again; your identity carries across every Topco event. |
| I'm not getting reminder emails | Check your spam folder first, then check your notification toggle on your profile (see above) hasn't been turned off. |
| Can I cancel or change my ticket? | Contact the events team directly — this isn't self-service in the app currently. |
